Outlook Opens My email

I've been commenting that Outlook is not retaining the bold face in unread
messages; yet really what it is doing is opening the mail. When mail is
received it comes in bold and then quickly, the email envelope appears opened
and the font becomes regular, not bold. This does not happen every time.
Any suggestions?

Roady,

I unchecked marked message read after selection. What does that mean "after
selection?" I am so hoping this is it.

You mean "Mark item as read when selection changes"? It does exactly was it
says; select an unread message and now select another message. When you
select the other mail the original mail will be marked as read.

Ok, now I understand (duh). the default is to have it checked, correct. That
can't be it. My emails automatically go from a closed envelope to an open
envelope before I select them.

Roady,

Thanks for helping me investigate this. I finally got it working perfectly.
I think it was a combination of the rules wizard, the preview pane (that was
big) and the automatic formatting.
