Outlook Opened in Safe Mode

I received a message to open Outlook in Safe mode because it was shutdown
improperly.

I did so.

When it opened, it showed all of my future tasks for years to come on my
Outlook Today opening page.

In Customize Outlook Today it it set for In my task list, show me"
Today's tasks. However it has a very long list of future task

How can I get rid of them without having to check each one off. The setting
in my Navigation pane shows for Next 7 days

If you shutdown OL, and after suitable delay, restarted OL was it still the
same?
Of so close OL, locate scanpst.exe and run it against your data file
BTW What is the mystery version of OL?
