Outlook today task column should not show completed tasks

I went to the outlook help first. the support fellow told me there is not a fix
It does not make sense to me that task I have completed days ago show in
"Outlook Today". A filter to hide completed tasks is needed. I'm not sure
what to make of the suggestion that I rewrite part of outlook inorder to get
the results I'm looking for. But it did not seem like a direction I would be
able to follow.

You explained just fine.

Open Outlook
In the Folder list select Mailbox - "LeJeune, Larry"

In the middle panel heading is Mailbox - LeJeune, Larry - Outlook Today
under the heading is three Columns, Calender, Tasks, and Messages

Im looking to hide the completed tasks in this column.

Now that I think about it some more, I don't think you can hide completed
tasks unless you write your own Outlook Today page. Changing the display
settings to show today's tasks and including tasks with no due date is as
close as you can come. Completed tasks won't be part of today's tasks and
won't show.
