Outlook Notes Folder Type Has Changed...

B

Brad Cavanaugh

The Notes folder in my Outlook 2003 has changed types.
Under the properties it now shows the Type as "Folder
containing Mail and Post Items". This is obviously
incorrect. It should say "Folder containing Note Items".
However, when I try to change the Default Message Class to
IPM.StickyNote, it won't allow me to change it. It's
stuck on IPM.Note.

It keeps telling me "You cannot create an item type in
this folder"

I've tried to use Omsgclas.doc and Scanpst but nothing
seems to work.

Does anybody have a suggestion?

Thanks,

Brad

Have you, by chance, installed or uninstalled FranklinCovey's Planner
recently?

Are we sure the shortcut just didn't get changed in the Outlook Bar? Display
the Folder List by selecting Folder List from the View menu. Is your regular
Notes folder there? If not, can you delete this new, broken Notes folder?

Try this:

Close Outlook

Select Start | Run

Enter outlook.exe /ResetFolders
(note the space between "exe" and "/ResetFolders")

Select OK

Very good... I HAD just installed and uninstalled
Franklin Covey's Planner. The problem was not the
shortcut. It was the actual folder.

I ran the ResetFolders and it worked great. I now have a
real working Notes folders.

Excellent stuff!

Thank you very much.

Brad
