Outlook Not Intermittently Not Sending Messages

Hi all,

When I send a message it sometime hangs up in my Outbox. I can't delete it
because the message tells me I'm in the midst of sending it. I've shut down
Outlook, restarted it, unchecked the box "Send immediately when connected",
shut it down and restarted it. None of that helped. I can send out other
messages, but the problem one remains stuck in my Outbox.

Of course, I also lose what I've written and that is a large pain.

The only fix that I've been able to find in these situations is to shut down
my computer and reboot. I'm assuming that this is yet another Vista bug, but
are there any solutions?

Do you have a virus scanner that integrates with Outlook? Disable this
integration and try again. Having a virus scanner that integrates with
Outlook account for the majority of the send/receive issues.

The fact that you need to reboot your computer in order to remove the
message makes me assume that you have an addin installed that prevent the
outlook.exe. application from terminating completely. How would this be a
Vista bug in your view?
For troubleshooting and finding the addin causing this see;

Hi Roady,

Thanks for the promp reply. I can see I mis-stated the case a bit. I can
close Outlook, but when I bring it back up again, the message is still in my
Outbox and it won't send. Also, even though I have unchecked "Send
immediately when connected," when I click on the message to open it (so I can
copy what I wrote and then delete the offending message), I'm told that
Outlook can't open the message because it is in the process of sending it. I
hope that clarifies matters a bit.

As for it being a Vista bug, any hitch I have lately I attribute to Vista.
:) I'm a bigger fan of XP, but I wasn't given the choice when I bought my
most recent laptop. I guess those Mac commercials are effective.

Instead of this, click File and check Work Offline, stop Outlook, wait a
moment to give Outlook time to close properly, then restart it. You shoud
be able to manipulate that message now, either to delete it, or to move it
to another folder, like Drafts.

Also, even though I have unchecked "Send
immediately when connected,"

That's not what that feature does. That's why unchecking it has no effect.
