outlook "new" "reply" "options" and other menus disabled

most of the menus are disabled now, I can not create new email messages, can
not reply, forward , I ca not even change my options. what went wrong here?
it was working fine.
now, all works fine if you use it in safe mode (by pressing Crtl)

only thing that comes to my mind is that something got corrupted somewhere
by using outlook while symantec ghost was doing a backup of the entire drive.

any idea?
