Outlook Network Password

I have Outlook 2002 installed with Win Vista and the email account setup with
POP3 service. Outlook will not maintain or save the password even though the
option is checked. Everytime oulook is opened the dialoge box opens and asks
for the network password. Once the network password is entered, the send and
receive failes. You can then go and hit the send ad receive button and email
downloads. I need to figure outr how to get the password to save so this
does not keep asking for the password. I have reinstalled Office and also
tried to do this with a clean install of Vista and a clean install of outlook
with the same results

Maybe the 3rd one applies to you, but check the rest, too.

I am in the same situation. I had to replace the laptop due to a blue screen
issue and re-loaded outlook 2002 on the new machine and everytime it checks
for mail it is prompting for a password. I have 3 POP accounts and typically
one or two will work. I have been unable to get the send function to work at
all for Comcast email unless I am hard wire connected at home, travelling
will not work at all.

Outlook 2002 is not compatible with Vista and will always prompt for a
password, according to other reports in this group. As for a POP/SMTP
account working at home but not while traveling, that's usually a relay
issue because the domain of the sender address doesn't match the ISP's
domain. One can usually fix that by either changing the SMTP server to the
one used by the network to which you;re attached or by setting up a second
account that matches the first, but specifies the SMTP server of the ISP.
