outlook will not save network password

When i try to send and receive mail, a pop up appears asking for my Network
Password. I tick the box to add to my password list, and it down loads my
mail ok.
I have also entered my password on the "Tools - email accounts " tab and
clicked to save password.
But each time i close down Outlook and reopen, it asks for my password again
and doesnt seem to have saved it.
Is there something else i have missed ?
