Outlook Mail Merge

When attempting to do a mail merge from MS Word or Excel the following popup
error appears.

"A program is trying to automatically send e-mail on your behalf."
"Do you want to allow this?"
**Possible virus warning. **
YES or NO

This is expected. The problem is for every intended recipient you have to
click YES.
In the case of 500 recipients this can be quite time consuming.

Is there an available workaround for this?

I duly apologize for the triple post; I was getting a URI error from our
firewall and assumed they were not committed!!!

Asked and answered. Ask once and be patient.

Use a real newsreader and you'll no longer have the problem.

Actually Brian, it had nothing to do with the newsreader, it had to do with
the communication back to my .NET passport. Only I did not check the
firewall log to see what the communication error was until after I tried 3
times, this was my error. These news forums are a place for learning and
sharing knowledge please try to be a little more polite and understanding.
Many people ask questions on these forums that are nervous and think they
will be viewed as "stupid" because of the type of comment you just made.
Especially if they take the time to post an apology, and why it occurred.

Kind regards,

Brian,

Actually, it had nothing to do with my newsreader. It was an error
communicating back to .NET Passport. It was my error for not checking the
firewall log before reposting twice. These new forums are for learning and
sharing knowledge. Many posters are nervous about making posts because they
feel they will be viewed as "stupid" because of comments like those that you
just made. Please try to be a little more understanding, especially when the
person making the post takes the time to apologize in advance for the error.

Regards,

It has everything to do with whether or not you use a newsreader vs. the web
interface supplied by Microsoft. Because you use "X-Newsreader: Microsoft
CDO for Windows 2000", you're posting everything four times (just like the
messsage to which I'm responding now). A real newsreader doesn't require
your passport.

The answer is posted here several time a week.
You didn't say what version of Outlook/Word you're using. If it is Outlook
2000, there's no way to get around it, at least not without the help of an
add-in. If it is Outlook 2002, you can use HTML format for the merge (you
must have the August 2002 update to Word 2002 installed). Outlook 2003 also
requires HTML format. You can find more info on this issue here:

Perhaps you could share a little more information -- like your Outlook
version and build number from the Help | About screen and the number of the
KB article you're referring to?
