Outlook Mail Merge

Is there a way to change the name of the sending email address when sending a
group of emails using the mail merge feature without changing the name on the
acount in account settings?

For example, say my account name is "John Doe" and that's the name I have
set to be displayed in the "from" field when people receive my emails. If I
were to send out a group of emails using Mail Merge is there a way to change
that so instead of "John Doe" appearing in the "from" field "ABC Company"
appears?

I am esentially trying to send out mass email newsletters using outlook
without having to purchase a newsletter program.

No, but what you can do, without needing to purchase a mass email tool, is
to create an additional mail profile with the account configuration that you
want to use for mailings. Then when doing a mailing, start Outlook with that
mail profile and you should be fine.

For more information about creating an additional mail profile see;

No, Outlook always uses the name and address of the default mail account for
transmitting mail merge messages.

What if you made ABC Company your default mail account and set up John Doe as
a subaccount?
