outlook mail attachments as winmail.dat

all of a sudden my outgoing attachments starting being
sent as winmail.dat files that have strange things in them
rather than the file i sent. anyone know how to fix this?

change your message format to plain text or html and consider disabling word
as your e-mail editor.
