When I switch views (calendar to contacts or tasks to calendar, etc.) Outlook
keeps closing because its "in use by the maximum number of users," even
though I'm the only user. Please advise.

I would start by cleaning your system of malware and
viruses. Scan with your Anti-virus program with the latest
definitions. Then download, install, update and scan for
malware with Ad-aware SE Personal (free) from
http://www.lavasoftusa.com

Then choose Detect & Repair from the Help drop down menu.
Have your installation CD ready.
