Outlook Journal automatic record entries.

I would like to use the Outlook automatic record entries but I am no longer
connected to an exchange server. My company now uses a web based e-mail
system. However, I still like to record office documents I open on a daily
basis within journal entries. Within the Tools menu in the Journal Options
area I selected automatically record items boxes and select all the check
boxes. In the Also record files from box, I select all the check boxes for
office programs.

Please advise if you can use Outlook automatic record entries without an
exchange server connection. If it is possible please let me know how to set
this up internally within Outlook.

Exchange is not required to use Journal functions - what made you think it
was?

I presumed this was the case. As I stated in my previous post the only
variable that changed which I could attribute to Journal no longer automating
recording items was taking Outlook off our exchange server. Moreover, as I
noted below, “Within the Tools menu in the Journal Options area I selected
automatically record items boxes and select all the check boxes. In the Also
record files from box, I select all the check boxes for office programs.â€
Although, this was set Journal does not automatically record office documents
that were opened.

I am having a similar problem, however my Exchange usage has not changed. My
journal just suddenly stopped recording entries after a profile change. I
would be very interested in any help on this matter.

Actually I was having the exact same problem. The only way I was able to see
the entries in the journal was to refresh the screen which from what I
understand is either by closing out of outlook completely or more
conveniently to switch to another item (for example your contacts) then
switch back to the journal. I was then able to see the journal entries in
the default view. Hope that helps.
