Outlook is sending Excel files as windat files.

My Outlook is sending Excel files as windat files. This does not happen all
of the time, but occassionally. Is there anything I can do?

First thing to do is to make sure you're not sending in Rich Text Format.
Non-Outlook clients see RTF mail items as Plain Text items with a
WinMail.DAT attachments
