Sending attachments through Outlook

When sending attachments (usually .doc files) through Outlook to AOL users,
they see it as a "windat" file and cannot open it. Is the problem with AOL or
my Outlook settings?

it's on your end - you need to send it using either plain text or HTML
formatted email.

This does not solve the issue. Even if you set it in plain text it
will not send out the pdf attachment. You will still receive a
winmail.dat.

Any one have an idea on how to resolved this?

The sender probably has the recipient as a contact and that contact's
INternet format is sent so as to override the Outlook default setting. Open
the contact record, double-click the email adress, and examine the Internet
Format drop-down. Change it to "Let Outlook decide the best sending
format".

The you are still sending them as Rich Text, it seems. I don't have any
other ideas. Did you search the Micorsoft Knowledgebase at
http://support.microsoft.com/ for your version of Outlook?
