Outlook Ignoring a Reply Address

R

Rick

I was on the Yahoo Mail internet site replying to an email I received
on one of my Yahoo accounts.

When I clicked Reply (not Reply-All), an extra address that I didn't
recognize popped up in the To field. It's likely this was the
intention of the sender, since the additional address also
incorporated the sender's company name.

But when I downloaded the original message to Outlook 98 via POP3 and
clicked Reply there, the extra address *didn't* appear in the To
field.

If clicking Reply on the Yahoo Mail site produced an extra "To"
address, why didn't the same thing happen in Outlook?

(I tried to create a test case replicating this using several of my
own internet email accounts and Options settings, but in this case
the result was that both the Yahoo Mail internet site *and* Outlook
added the extra address when I hit Reply -- i.e., I couldn't re-create
the discrepancy.)

I usually use Outlook POP3 for reading and sending all my
internet-based email, so this discrepancy makes me a tad
uncomfortable. Any explanations for what might be causing it?

Thanks.

If you check the options on the mail in question (View->Options), does this
mail have a second address under "have replies sent to:"?

I checked and couldn't find anything at all there says "have replies
sent to:". But I did notice that the second address is shown in the
"From" line to the right of the address the email came from, separated
by a comma.

I don't know if these are of any significance, but here are few more
facts:
-- When I check full header detail for this email on the Yahoo mail
site, it does not show the second address anywhere.
-- The email was an automatic confirmation letter for an order I
placed online.
-- While the "main" address is "(e-mail address removed)", the second
address is a Hotmail address, i.e., "(e-mail address removed)".

Thanks for the response thus far, and thanks in advance for any
possible solutions.

Hi, Milly -

Did my answers help any, or is this still pretty much a mystery?

Anyone else?

Thanks in advance.
