Hello all

I use a mail forwarding service to forward my mail to my two email
accounts and am having difficulty setting the reply account properly.

I am using outlook 2K3 to collect my mail. The two email accounts
collect the mail but when I click reply, to test messages sent to these
accounts, it uses a default reply address from another test account
(which eventually will be deleted) and is from the same forwarding
provider.

So to summarise...

I have three accounts forwarding mail. One is a default account and
its address is being used as the reply address for the other two
accounts despite the outgoing server being setup to use the same
settings and the incoming mail server for each of the separate
accounts.

What am I doing wrong? If anyone can guide me in the right direction I
would appreciate it.

Thanks.

Sounds to me like at least two of these accounts are aliases of each other,
so when Outlook downloads messages, it might use the soon-to-be-deleted test
account, since the mailbox to which all the accounts point is the same one.

Do you use the same server and username/password to access more than one of
these accounts?

Hi Brian,

I have been playing with this since posting it and have got some very
strange intermittent results.

The setup is this:
My pobox account [abc]@pobox.com forwards email to [abc]@f2s.com so
does [xyz]@pobox.com forwards to [xyz]@f2s.com

Outlook is setup to read mail from the f2s accounts. The settings for
these accounts are as follows:
For both accounts the pop3 server is inmail.f2s.com and the smtp server
is outmail.f2s.com, the only thing that differs is the username and
password which is different for each account.

In outlook when I click reply to the messages, I was hoping that it
would reply using the pobox address??? (perhaps this just isn't
possible!!) but by default it uses another f2s account I have which is
setup like this:
Its email address is [fname]@[lname].f2s.com and the pop3 server is
inmail.[lname].f2s.com and smtp server is outmail.[lname].f2s.com.
Again the username and password is different.

Does this help?

Thanks

As long as the mailboxes on the f2s.com server are different, it should be
possible, provided the "E-mail Address" value in the (e-mail address removed) account is
specified as (e-mail address removed) and specified in the (e-mail address removed) account as
(e-mail address removed). Your SMTP server shouldn't care what the e-mail address for
the account is, provided you use the correct username/password to
authenticate to it.
