Outlook hijacks Outlook Express email

Every time I leave OE (7) and use Outlook 2003, it hijacks my email. Meaning:
when I return to OE, it is no longer my default email handler. I want it to
be.

How can I turn off this keen feature in Outlook Express?

This has been a recurring problem going back at least three years. A solution
suggested before -- right-clicking the inbox and deleting it -- is no longer
viable, since delete is grayed out.

Can you PLEASE suggest something to finally eliminate this?

NOW I KNOW THE CULPRIT. I still don't know what to do about it, though.

I accepted MS's IE7 a while back. That loused up my system so completely I
had to pay Dell $240 to get me out of it, back to IE6. And that's when the
email problem with Outlook vs Outlook Express started.

How do I know? I just cranked up my laptop and found IE7 resident there,
too. This time I undid it all . . . including installing (as before) the IE7
blocker.

And bang! the same Outlook/Outlook Express problem appeared as if by magic.

Okay, Microsoft -- when will you address this one?

It's the removal of IE7! Just confirmed by doing the same on my laptop (the
previous report was on my desktop). Instant replication of Outlook vs Outlook
Express problem.

Now we know. The question is: what will Microsoft do about it, and when?
