Outlook hijacks "default email handler" from OE

I prefer OE6 as my email handler. But each time I go into Outlook 2003, that
program hijacks the "default mail handler" status. I have to physically
change which program handles email (in IE6 Tools | Options | etc).

How can I get this back to the way it was before IE7 was installed (and
subsequently removed, at great pain)?

Dear Charles,

did you delete the E-Mail Account in Outlook?

If you wouldn´t have an E-Mail Account in Outlook, Outlook can not receive
the e-mails.

"Tools/E-Mail-Acounts/Show existing E-Mail-Accounts"

That's part of what I don't understand, Oliver. I never created any email
accounts in Outlook. There is no connection, no accounts, no account
information . . . but it still hijacks the status.
