I just updated to XP and now I am having problems with my Outlook Express. I
am getting messages (e-mails) from friends but I cannot send anything out.
It
goes to the out box and then I get a message. AVG returned to sender. Sender
not Authinticated. I talked to MSN today and they are not having problems
with
the Pop3 so I can no Idea. I went to Hotmail and sent myself a message from
there
and got that message but I still get my outbound mail returned to me.
ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA"S ????

You have not set up your AVG anti virus properly to allow outgoing mail.
open the program and double check your settings.

Post the complete error message.

AVG 6 or AVG 7? Assuming the latter, is it fully up-to-date?

Is it a Hotmail account ([email protected]) or an MSN account ([email protected])?

Meanwhile, try disabling AVG's email scanning.

I dont have the message with me account I am working. I believe it is AVG 6
and I have an MSN account ([email protected]). I also tried disabling AVG and
sending but got the same response.

I am guessing it is up to date. I just loaded it, but I am wondering if
Outlook Express
works ok with XP. I had Outlook Express on the computer when I downloaded
XP. Should or do I need to change something, settings way?

Support for AVG 6 was discontinued on 31 Dec-04. You need to upgrade to AVG
7: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5. Once installed, seek
updates manually until you get the "No additional updates are available"
prompt, as several important (and large) program updates were released last
week.

Has the (e-mail address removed) account ever worked in OE? Are you certain it's a POP3
account? (Most (e-mail address removed) accounts have been automatically converted to
HTTP mail. If you have MSN8 or MSN9 installed, it's an HTTP account.)

Did you upgrade to WinXP from an earlier Windows version?

Make certain the account is configured correctly in OE:
