Outlook express

With my new Win XP pro machine when outlook downloads my
msn.com mail I frequently get this:

"Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection.
Possible causes for this include server problems, network
problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'MSN
mail', Server: 'pop3.email.msn.com', Protocol: POP3,
Server Response: '+OK 231 bytes', Port: 110, Secure(SSL):
No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F"

but if I retrieve the mail on my Win 98 machine it
completes the download...any ideas?

Disable email scanning (by any anti-virus app) of outgoing and incoming
mail. It provides no additional protection (and even Symantec says it's not
needed:
