Hello there,

I have the most unusual problem and unfortunely do not have much to go on as
I do not have access to the specific PC.

I was at a client site setting up there different Pop3 email accounts.
BEfore my visit they had one PC which would pick up all the email for each
different email box but I changed this around so that the different accounts
would go to the different individuals PC's. However, on one of the PC's,
when I enetered the exact same username and details, it would always say
that an "unkown error" had occured and would let me send any emails although
it would seem to check if any were on the server.

When I tried the same details on the original PC it worked fine, but then
putting the same details into this specific PC would always cause Outlook
Express not to send any emails with the "unknown error" error.

One other thing I did note that occasionally when I closed Outlook Express
it would then give a memory address refernce error or something similar (I
did not note the exact error).

This absolutely flumoxed me and becuase I was on client site I said I would
investigate this and get back to them. I did not want to look so confused
especially as they were trying to do work on the PC's I was setting up.

I know there is not much to go on, but can anyone think what is happening
here.

Kind regards

Dave

Ask in an Outlook Express newsgroup.

Mr. Tillman: 2 things.
1. Isn't there a way to put a note in the Community
Newsgroups pane when somebody clicks on Office>Outlook
the first line is a note that for Outlook Express, go
to ...? It would save you MVPs a lot of time.
2. Could you , or somebody, answer my Aug 23 post?
thanks,

Who knows? Suggest it to Microsoft.

As much as I'd like to be, I'm not an MVP, alas.

I just reviewed it an regretfully, I have no answer. When a message isn't
answered, it usually means one of two things. The first it that no one
reading the message knows the answer. The second is that no one reading the
message who knows the answer has had the time to post. Since this group is
populated with nothing more than other Outlook users (some of whom know
outlook very well) who usually have jobs to which they must attend, some
messages may not be answered for a while. Two days is not an unusual wait.

Have you tried a "Detect and Repair" or a reinstall?

If the problem is crucial, submit the question to Microsoft Support.

I did try and find one but all the ones I looked in had no postings and I
saw other outlook express ones in here so I thought it OK. Obviously not.

OK, I'll try and repost in an Express one.

Regards

Dave

Thanx.
