When I start my computer up it automatically changes the
outlook express incoming mail settings to 'localhost'
instead of the pop settings I put in. If I change them
back manually through the accounts box it is fine untill
I shut down and then the computer is restarted, then they
default back to local host.
I have a cable modem permanently connected to the
internet, (broadband, no dial up) and local network card
for my daughter to access the internet from her computer,
my computer is the host and the modem is connected
directly into it and does not use the network to access
the internet/mail.any help on how to retain my pop3
settings would be apreciated.

This isn't Windows, and it isn't Outlook Express. It's your antivirus
software. Contact the manufacturer to see if they have a newer version that
scans mail in a more sophisticated fashion, or get another AV product.

holy cow lanwench, it worked, I took out the real time
scan and POP scan and it worked, thank you, no one else
came even close to getting it right, all the experts gave
me bullsh*t advise on different network settings and
swore they would work, but of course they didnt, thanks
again.
