the inbox in two of my email servers seems to empty whenever my home computer
is connected to the web - until I switch on, I can access and read mail in
the inboxes from other computers and even forward it (to my third, safe,
address). This third address has never been used by outlookm the other two
have. Any ideas? I have scanned for viruses and uninstalled and
re-installed my McAfee security suite AND deleted all email account details
from OE but to no avail.

Make sure in "View/Current View" you have "Show All Messages" selected
rather than "Hide Read Messages" or OE will "steal" all messages after
you've viewed them once.

In OE, click Tools, Accounts, Mail tab, click an account, click
Properties. Click Advanced tab, select "Leave a copy of messages on
server". But if you removed the accounts, OE can't be removing the
messages. Maybe Thunderbird, or another program.. I suspect the
default in any program would be to remove the mail from the server.
