Outlook Express -- lost emails in inbox when upgrading to XP

S

Scott

I upgraded to XP from windows 98 this morning and
everything went well except all the emails that were in
my inbox (and my sent and deleted emails for that matter)
weren't there when I opened up Express after the update.

It is my inbox however, as I sent a test email to and
from the new inbox and it works perfectly.

In addition, all my contacts transferred over properly
after the update. I simply lost my emails.

Does anyone know how to retrieve them?

Thanks,

Scott

(please respond to my email address if you can --

many of the people visiting these newsgroups are not aware of tomsterdam (or
they would have went their first) - you should provide a link to tomsterdam
if
you are going to suggest it as the only answer.

umm... "tomsterdam.com" is the link. Many posts just refer to "google" and
surprise, surprise, many people never heard of google or would even think it
means "google.com".

Last Saturday a visitor here responded to a google reply with this:
"DON'T KNOW WHAT THE MKBL IS! DON'T KNOW WHAT GOOGLE GROUPS ARE. I FULLY
APPRECIATE HOW FRUSTRATING THESE KINDS OF QUESTIONS MUST BE, BUT FOR SOME OF
US, WE JUST DON'T KNOW ANY BETTER WAY. I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT MICROSOFT, OR
SOMEONE, CONSIDER (IF THEY DON'T ALREADY) OFFERING A PROGRESSIVE LEVEL OF
HELP AIDS. "

Like the post says, you might find it frustrating to reply to the same
comment over and over, but the people asking the questions aren't familiar
with many of the same resources we are. If answering the questions with more
than just "Google?" is too much for you, then it's time for you to take a
break from these groups or be more selective in the questions you choose to
answer. Answering the question with the KB takes me just as long as it does
you to type "Google?". I use ActiveWords for FAQ but there are a number of
other boilerplate apps available that make it as easy to give the real
answer as it is to send visitors packing to google.
