Outlook Express fonts

OS Windows XP home,IE 6.0
Outlook Express cannot change Font style or size.
Default is Times Roman & size 12.
Using the Formating toolbar change style & sze. At the
first keystroke it reverts back to default. Tried
changing style & size in Format & Compose with no effect.
