When I turn on OE or try to send or receive any emails this message comes up
- Your SMTP server has not responded in 60 seconds. Would you like to wait
another 60 seconds for the server to respond.... I click on stop and then the
error message comes up as this
The host 'mail.aapt.net.au' could not be found. Please verify that you have
entered the server name correctly. Account: 'mail.aapt.net.au', Server:
'mail.aapt.net.au', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error:
11004, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D
I can still go to the aapt website and get my mail, but it takes longer and
what is the use of having OE if it doesn`t work? I need
help..please....anyone!

Hi,
Yes it was working ok before....Norton detected 2 files with a trojan horse
that couldn`t be repaired, so I quarateened them, then deleted them. They
looked to be some microsoft update files, couldn`t find out exactly which
ones. So after I went to microsoft and checked for any updates I was missing
and it came up that there weren`t any. And no I didn`t make any changes.
Recently new to all this puter stuff...self taught! Thank you.

Hi again,
I went to microsoft website looked up error message and it said to turn off
email scanning (I have norton internet security 2005) and this made no
difference. We have always had norton internet security 2005. I am at a loss.
I was reading up on reinstalling OE but this does not look easy and I am
worried about doing any damage to my computer.

Hi,

First I would contact the mail service provider to ensure there are not
issues with the server. If you want to try reinstalling Outlook Express,
it's not really all that difficult.

Hi Rick,
Yesterday I rang the mail service provider and went through all
the details in my computer and it all right. I turned off email scanning and
anti spam so now I can receive emails, but not send them! If I try and
reinstall OE won`t I have to save everything on there? eg addresses and
emails that I want to keep? If so do I save them onto a disc or onto another
part of the computer? Thank you.
