Outlook Express Address Book

We had Microsoft XP Professional and upgraded to Vista Business. How do we
get our address book from Outlook Express so we have all of our e-mail
addresses?

you can EXPORT either the WAB or as CVS(comma separated value) from OE and then IMPORT it to WM.
be aware that neither will bring GROUPS across.

I personally have had greater success using CSV file.

I hope you are not saying you installed
Vista over XP and forgot to backup your
personal files.

Anyway...maybe the following articles
will offer some ideas:

I appreciate your response -- however, I don't know how to do this. Do I have
to have Outlook Express open and since I can't even find it on the computer
-- I don't know what to do. I need specifics -- step by step help. Thanks.

We backed up the whole system on a backup drive. Do I need to go into it to
get the addresses?

have not a clue on what you used to backup or how to restore just ONE file.
you might have to restore your backup to another computer and then use OE to EXPORT either the WAB or as CSV.

Copy your Wab file to your Documents folder.
Make sure it is not Read Only.
Open Windows Contacts.
Click Import on the toolbar.
Choose Windows Address Book and browse to it.

Assuming your backup drive is accessable from Vista, type *wab in the search
that comes right up from your "Start" button.
You should see your little Address Book icon followed by "Type" "WAB File"
followed by the location.
For ease of remembering, right click on it and copy the Wab to your Vista.
Than you can go to Windows Mail, File, Import, Windows Contacts and locate
your Wab folder and import it.
