Outlook Express 6 email problem

Well my outlook express is not working well anymore for some reason, suddenly
it wont show my emails at all, but it does mention that i have 17 new emails
but whne i click on my local folder and my hotmail folder the emails disppear
and nothing shows up and it says that i have zero emails at all. And well i
havent been able to check my for about 2 weeks already!so can anyone help me.
