Outlook Express 6 can't XOVER hotmail.com

Jim Davis

In XP just added new email (e-mail address removed) to OE6 ,
and I suspect I got some hotmail parameters wrong :

Unable to poll for new messages on your HTTP server.
Account: 'Hotmail', Server:
Protocol: HTTPMail, Server Response: 'Service Unavailable', Port: 0, Secure
(SSL):
No, Socket Error: 87, Error Number: 0x800CCCF0

What are correct setup parms for hotmail.com ?

new hotmail accounts can no longer be
accessed via outlook. only the older
accounts have been grandfathered.

however, the experts hang around here:

microsoft.public.outlook.general

Firstly PLEASE do NOT POST IN HTML. Many newsreaders will NOT render HTML
posts.
and secondly, you are dead wrong. Outlook EXPRESS is NOT the same as
Outlook.
The two are entirely DIFFERENT programs, and there are specific news groups
for Outlook EXPRESS. microsoft.public.outlook.general is NOT a group for
Outlook EXPRESS.

instead you appear to be a smart as*

so if your so smart then post
your reply to the originator.

i "really" do not care about you or your opinions.

No, just exasperated at your constant flouting of Usenet etiquette....

so if your so smart then post
your reply to the originator.

Why? It was YOU that provided the erroneous information about Outlook
Express groups....and YOU need to be corrected about that
i "really" do not care about you or your opinions.

Then you are a pig-headed, ignorant jerk.
HTML posting is frowned on because the majority of computer-savvy regulars
who post here (and in all other news groups)use newsreaders, not the
horrible clunky web interface and most news readers do NOT cope with HTML so
you are deliberately thumbing your nose at all those who post in the method
acceptable to the global Usenet community.
