Outlook Email Behaviors Changed?

Just recently my Outlook 2003's email behaviors have changed and I don't know
what happened or what I did...???

1. All of the sudden my default format changed to HTML and I don't know how
or why... I changed it back to Rich Text...was that the original default
when installed?

2. After the above, attachments no longer showed up in an attachment window
at the top of the emails...they showed up in the body and this is causing
problems. How do I get that back? What happened? How do I get that back to
the original default when installed?

3. My newest change is that it is no longer changing my signature for my
different email accounts like it use to. In the past, if I changed email
sender account, the signature would change with it. Its no longer doing
that. How do I get this back?

If anyone knows what I did, please let me know. If anyone knows how to make
these changes individually, that's great too. Or if anyone knows how to
clear all these settings and get it back to factory installed, I'll do that
and start over.

Help please - this is driving me nuts!! :)

Rich Text Format is the default format of Outlook. Be advised however that
this particular format is specific and exclusive to Microsoft Outlook. Other
email clients cannot properly read this format so if you send to a
non-Outlook user, the email may appear odd to them or things may be missing
(even attachments).

It is normal when using Rich Text Format for the attachment to show up in
the body of the email.

If you wish to reset Outlook back to default, open it using the first run
command:

Start > Run > outlook.exe /firstrun.

As to how it happened, have you run any updates or done any installs to the
PC recently? Perhaps an Add In was integrated with Outlook. If you open
Outlook in /safe mode it will disable all Add Ins. If Outlook runs correctly
then, you can put an Add In back and test each one as you replace.

1) HTML is the default. You shouldn't use RTF if you are not within an
Exchange environment and are sending messages outside the Exchange
environment. Even within an Exchange environment there is rarely a need to
use RTF.

2) That is a feature of using RTF. Again; use HTML or Plain Text instead.

3) Make sure you have Word set as your email editor;
Tools-> Options-> tab Mail Format

It's hard to say what you did but it is easy to change back.

It seems like the changes happened when I replied to a hotmail email...but
I'm not sure. It hung-up for quite a bit and then thats when I noticed the
reply was HTML and after that it seemed like HTML was the new default.

When doing the firstrun command, I will not lose my address books or
anything will I?

No, but you will lose the configuration of them.
I wouldn't run the command as your issue is just a configuration change
which you can change back easily via the proper options. See the reply I
gave you.
