Check with your ISP either by calling or checking their website for all the
particulars regarding setting up your account. They will have all the server
and authentication details you require.
If you have any error messages, please include the exact details of the
message.

Hi
thanks for taking time to reply.
I can log onto my ISP sky email account and can send and receive no problem,
I can receive mail from my outlook express ntlworld.com account (although I
can't send from this account either)
I have followed Skys instructions to set up outlook, but am still getting
nowhere!!
What is authentication and where can I find it?

Call whomever is your e-mail provider to get the details on how to
define an e-mail account in Outlook (although they may only support
Outlook Express but the settings will be the same). Or use their web
help pages to get that info.

Can you login to your e-mail account at that provider by using their
webmail interface to your mailbox? That would verify if you are using
the correct username and password. However, their webmail interface may
only require that you specify your username and not have to include
their domain whereas when using POP they may require both the username
and domain, as in (e-mail address removed)[.cctld]. Again, their web help
pages or their support rep can tell you what to use.
