Outlook downloads all the mails eveytime it connects to POP3.

Hello All,

I am facing a weird problem.

I just configured Outlook 2003 to download all the mails from a POP3 Inbox.

I can send and receive mails from Outlook, everything works well.

Now, here is the glitch. Everytime Outlook connects to my POP3 Account, it
downloads all the mails including the ones that were downloaded earlier. It
seems that Outlook is not marking the mails on my POP3 Server as read, and
hence assumes the mails are new and downloads them again.

I suspect this is an Outlook Configuration issue and there is some setting
which should allow outlook to mark the downloaded mails as read on the server.

Note that I want to keep the mails on the server and have selected "Leave a
copy of the mail on the server".

Please advice.

Thanks,
Regards,

If you have this set, Outlook will continue to download all the messages
every time you connect. The only way to prevent this is to change the above
setting.

How frequently are you checking mail? If less than every 8 to 10 min, raise
it - if outlook tries to do mail checks too close together, it doesn't
properly mark previous messages as downloaded.
