I have a Centrino 1.6 with Win Xp Pro.

My Outlook 2003 SP2 is keen on crashing. If come her efor advice and have
used
scanpst.exe as advised, but still, sometimes it crashes, or takes ages to do
simple tasks. For instance: when I receive an email and open it, if I click
with the right button on it (to add it to the address book) it simply
crashes! I have a rather big pst file, but is this an excuse? Any help will
be great.

What type of PST do you have, an ANSI PST or a Unicode PST? (Right-click
the root of the PST and choose Properties, then Advanced to see. Examine
the Format field. If it mentions Outlook 97-2002, it's ANSI. Otherwise,
it's Unicode.) Have you tried a new mail profile? See this:

I don't know what's the root of the PST, but I right clicked the file and
found nothing like that in propoerties. I used the method to create another
profile but after everything was done all my email accounts were gone, so, I
reverted the whole thing. If you know of a way to export all email accounts
and then import them, I'll do it again.

The root of the PST is usually called "Personal Folders" or "Outlook Today"
and you find it in the Navigation Pane in Outlook.

again.

The Microsoft Office Tools Save My Settings Wizard can do that.

OK. I found it. The format field says "Personal Folders File"...

OK, then. That's a Unicode PST and I wouldn't expect it to be the root of
the problem. Did you try the new mail profile as I suggested?

of a way to export all email accounts and then import them back after
creating the new profile, I'll do it again.

And I told you how: the Save My Settings Wizard

Hi.

I finally managed to find some time to do all that, and after all was done
Outlook Crashed again! On top of it, when I try to find a contact it tells me
the address book is empty, but when I click on "contacts" in the "navigation
pane" window they are there! How do I make them appear in the address book,
so I can use them again?

You haven't properly configured the Outlook Address Book service.

I don't know what's causing the crash. WHat's logged in the Event Log?

Hi.

How or where do I find the Event Log?

I have a pst file of a bit over 5Gb, could that be the cause of the crashes?

I found one typical situation where Outlook crashes: when I open an email and
try to add the sender to my address book. I right-click the address, it shoes
the usual menu, and there it goes: the menu stays on top of all windows and
the program crashes!...

Right-click My Computer and choose Manage. Expand "Event Viewer" and click
Application. See if ant Office events are listed.

The latest Office report I found in Event log is from June 13, but I've had
crashes since then... Here's what it says:

Faulting application outlook.exe, version 11.0.8118.0, stamp 456628bf,
faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, stamp 00000000, debug? 0, fault
address 0x00188a0f.

Also, don't you find the "right menu" situation I described somewhat strange?

I've not heard of that crash and I do find the context menu behavior
strange. Were I in your shoes, I'd 1) make sure I have the latest video
drivers for my video card, make sure all Office 2003 patches are installed,
run SCANPST on the PST, and create a new mail profile.

Thanks, I'll do all that.
