Outlook Contacts

Hello Everyone,

I'm not too familiar with Outlook, i've got 2 question.

How do I add a new Contact to an Existing Custom category?

How do I Simplify Access to a shared Contact list in the Public Folder
without going through folders then choosing the particular contact list ? my
Colleagues say that it is one too many clicks to get to the shared contact
list in public Folder in order to update it!

Thx

To Categorise a Contact, click the Categories button. You forgot to mention
your version. It may be at the top of the Contact form (2007) or at the
bottom (older versions).

Place the Contact Folder in their Favourites- drag it there and that will
reduce clicks to access it.

Hello Judy,

I'm using MS Outlook 2007, if i drag the shared contact list from public
folder to favourites, can everybody in the office read, update, and delete
certain contact or i need to configure permissions ? if so, how do i
configure permissions so that everybody can update or delete contacts from
the shared contact list whether it is in the public folder or favourites?

One more question, where is the actual public folder located? is there
another way to update or delete shared contacts other than from Outlook
itself ?

Thx

Dragging a folder to Favourites does NOT change it's permission levels.

To set Permissions on a folder, the Owner of the Folder can right click it,
and use the Permissions Tab. You have not said whether you are the Owner of
the Folder.

Public Folders are on your Exchange Server. They are accessed through
Outlook by users with sufficient permission.

I am not the owner of the public folder, once i know who the owner of the
public folder is, what do i change the permission to ? so that everybody in
this department can update or delete certain contacts, and the update will be
visible to all ? at the moment i'm in the process of updating our contact
list but i cannot delete any, for permissions reasons.

Thank you Judy

When you change permission levels it is very obvious on the pop up window
that you use what level of permission you are choosing. Select one and see
what the settings are, then select another until you like the details of a
specific setting.
