Outlook Connector Send/Receive does not work

Outlook 2007 (12.0.6316.5000) SP1 MSO (12.0.6320.5000)
Outlook Connector (12.0.6414.1000)

I have been happily using Outlook Connector with my Hotmail account.
However, for the last 3-4 weeks:
-- I used ot be able to force a synchronisation with the "Send/Receive"
button. However, this no longer works. Using "Send/Receive" simply sends
unsent messages.
-- The frequency of automatic updates has increased, i.e., it takes longer
for Outlook to sync with Hotmail.

Wondering if others have the same problem, and if there's a fix?
