Outlook connector repeatedly asking for hotmail paswords

After downloading and installing Outlook connector in order to see
hotmail email account trhough Outlook I had no isses for several weeks.

Recently a problem has started to occur.

Not every time, but once every few times I log into Outlook the Outlook
Connector will ask me for the passwords for my hotmail accounts even though I
have typed them in and asked it to save them.

What's really odd is that it does not always ask for the passwords of all
the hotmail accounts. Sometimes it asks for the password to just one other
times it will ask for all.

Any ideas on why its doing this?

thanks for any help

How many accounts do you have configured then?
There is a limitation to the amount of connections you can make to Hotmail
servers. When you exceed this limitation, you can be locked out for a day to
protect the mail servers. Same is true for the amount of full mailbox syncs
you can do in a certain time.

Hi Roady

Thanks for the reply

I guess I could have been clearer in my original post.

It's only two hotmail accounts. but like I said its odd that sometimes it
asks for both passwords but more often it just aske for one of the passwords.

What is the mail poll interval? Some users configure intervals that are
way too short. If a mail session hasn't completed downloading the
current list of new e-mails and then another mail session is started,
the first gets aborted and the 2nd tries to yank the same e-mails as the
prior session tried to yank. There is rarely any need for someone to be
polling their mailbox every minute and is abusive to the e-mail
provider. Is the mail poll interval set to, say, 10 minutes, or longer?

I don't know if it is the Hotmail service itself being slow, that they
happen to be super loaded at the time and are very busy with lots of
mail sessions, having to use a plug-in in Outlook, or with the old
WebDAV or new DeltaSync protocols, but mail sessions with Hotmail
accounts always take far longer than mail sessions with my POP and IMAP
accounts. So make sure you aren't polling them at overly short
intervals since you could be stepping on an existing mail session with
another mail session.

Thanks for the reply.

I currently have it set at what I beleive is the default send/receive time
of 30 minutes. So I dont think it's an issue of 2 send/receive searches
stepping on each other. It seems to be more of an issue of the Outlook
Connector not connecting.

When it does have the password issue Ill try and get the exact wording of
the message and post that.
