Outlook Connector keeps asking me to login

Hi, have two hotmail accounts setup in outlook 2003 via the outlook connector
tool - they are synchronising and connected. However, every time I start
outlook I am prompted for the password for each account even though I have
already set them up and ticked "remember password". I am running Windows XP
sp3. I have tried repairing the install of outlook but this makes not
difference.

I am not sure but I think the version of Outlook Connector is 12.0.6423.1000

I would appreciate any help

Thanks

Hi Lambo, it seems that it is not related to the version of Outlook or the
operating system; I have Outlook 2007 and Windows Vista and I have the same
problem. I was about to write an entry here but since you already done so, I
just wanted to add to the description of the problem. I hope that somebody
has a solution for both of us.

Alright BAL,

Yep, I have been trying to sort this one out for about a week now on and off
being sent round the houses by Microsoft representatives who can't give me an
answer themselves and are expecting me to resolve the problem myself. One
representative directed me to the following link to resolve the problem. You
can send a "free" support email to Microsoft.

http://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?&ln=en-us&c1=505&gprid=6998&

However, before you can do this you have to enter the product code for the
software in question. The only thing is when you enter in the product code
for Outlook Connector the system says that it is not a ligitimate so you
can't progress to sending the email - good eh!! I was then directed to
another link and now I have been sent here!!

This is still an issue for many people (do a web search)

I posted a similar question on the Windows Live community -
http://windowslivehelp.com/community/p/58649/242611.aspx#242611

I have a problem using Windows Live Hotmail accounts in Outlook. I have
several accounts and each and every time I fire up outlook, Live Connector
asks for my passwords on each Hotmail account. This also happens at
further/various/random times throughout the day popping up with password
confirmation requests and it's regardless that connector actually already
knows my passwords. This appears to be a very common problem - just do a
search on the web for "Windows Connector Keeps Asking for Passwords" and
you'll see dozens of entries.

There are multiple posts on this forum about this issue (and other connector
issues) where someone on the team directs the poster to an outlook connector
MS support page. Here you have to type in the "outlook connector PID" which,
when you do it, is not recognised.

Despite numerous people on this site pointing out that the PID for connector
is not accepted by that website nobody seems able to own the issue and throws
it over the fence to their colleagues.

Here’s a small sample -
http://windowslivehelp.com/community/p/17203/226134.aspx#226134
http://windowslivehelp.com/community/p/38498/156102.aspx#156102
http://windowslivehelp.com/community/p/28769/232436.aspx#232436
http://windowslivehelp.com/community/p/17203/67513.aspx#67513

If you do a search on the web for "Outlook Connector PID not valid" guess
what - many of the results bring you right back to this forum where you get
sent right back at the "outlook connector support page"

So that's Microsoft people telling microsoft customers to go to a Microsoft
support page to type in a Microsoft-provided PID which isn't accepted, so the
poor Microsoft customer keeps going round in circles.

Connector is effectively now a required option for Outlook because otherwise
you get issues with multiple mail message instances, having to download all
emails each time you load etc. etc.

Live is MS, Hotmail is MS, Outlook is MS and Connector is MS. Will anyone
grasp the nettle, reach out to their colleagues (rather than expecting the
customer base to glue you together) and fix this irritating problem?

I'm totally hacked off with it !
