In Outlook 2003, the Mail tab/section, after clicking on new (e-mail), then
to; I get the following error message –

To cause this problem, I installed XP Pro over XP home, reinstalled Office
2003 Professional, and then copied the Outlook.pst file into the directory as
follows:

The original Outlook.pst was renamed Outlook.NEWpst, meaning that was the
new file created in the install of office. Then I copied the old file named
Outlook.pst to the new install location.

When I continue with the new e-mail and he error messages, I get:

And, neither Outlook Address Book nor Contacts has anything associated with
them.

What am I do?

Wow. You used every known method for corrupting your Outlook Address Book.
It is not unusual for the Outlook Address Book to "lose track" of the
connection to its Contacts Folder when you move or import your PST or update
your Outlook version or OS. Use the following steps to reset the connection.
Note that in some instances you may actually have to remove the Outlook
Address Book completely from your Profile, close Outlook, and then re-add it
before you can get it to work.

Make sure the Contact folder is enabled as an email address book. Right
click the Contacts folder, choose Properties then Outlook Address Book. Is
the box to enable as email address book checked?

If this is grayed out...Go to Tools | Email Accounts, choose View or change
existing directories or address book. Is the Outlook Address Book present?
If it isn't listed, add it and close and restart Outlook. If it is listed,
then remove it and close then restart Outlook and repeat these steps to add
it.

P.S. Renaming and overwriting PST files are uniquely bad ideas and will
corrupt far more than just your Outlook Address Book. You may find a lot of
other problems. If so, you will need to create a new profile and migrate
your Outlook Data correctly (read the Help Files).
