outlook behind a firewall

hi all:
I need to set up my pop account behind a firewall. Are there any special
settings that I need to keep in mind? I have tried to set it up already and
I get a connection error. I think it has to do with the fact that I am not
doing anything to handle the fact that I am behind a firewall. Any help will
be apreciated. Thanks.
