It would be more appropriate to say that free Yahoo! Mail accounts to not
offer POP3/SMTP access to *any* email client using those protocols.
You can, however, use a proxy (there are a couple) which access the Yahoo!
Mail servers using HTTP (simulating a browser) and then present the email to
email clients through a local POP3 server.
The caveat with that is, no guarantees. Yahoo! is well within their rights
to disrupt such access. The Yahoo! plug-in for Firefox rarely works for me.
