Outlook and Newsgroups

I am considering switching from Outlook Express to
Outlook. I believe that Outlook has capability to receive
newsgroups (as OE does).

1. Is this correct, ie.-outlook can't get newsgroups?
2. If so, why can't it?

Outlook does not handle newsgroups. Instead, attempts to access News from
Outlook result in it opening Outlook Express.

Outlook can't handle newsgroups for the same reason my Honda Odyssey can't
fly. It's not something it was engineered to do.

When you set up newsgroups in Outlook - it automatically
opens up Express to complete the setup. I don't know why.

Because Outlook doesn't have a built-in newsreader; it uses Outlook Express
for news.
