Hi,

I am having trouble setting up my address book in Outlook 2002 SP3, despite
much checking of the support documents.

I would really appreciate some help.

I am very experienced in all of the Office Standard module, but get the
following problem:

I added the address book button to Outlook Bar and I should say that I am
using Word as my e-mail editor.

However, whenever I press the address book button, I get the following
message - "The address list ocould not be displayed. The Contacts folder
associated with this address list could not be opened: it may have been moved
or deleted, or you do not have permissions. for informaton on how to remove
this folder from the Outlook address book, see Microsoft Outlook help.

The outlook contacts folder that I would like it to address is the main one
under "Outlook Today".

Could anyone please provide some assistance?

right-click on the Contacts folders you want to be shown as address books,
select properties and in the Outlook Address book tab ensure they are
enabled as email address books.
Next, look in Tools | Email Accounts View or Change existing address books ,
select the Outlook Address book and then Change ... remove any address books
that are giving you errors.

Hi Bill,

We are almost there!! I did whar you said and it did not work, but tried to
build on you help.

I went into Tools. Email Accounts,View or change existing...,and there was
only one "contacts" there. So I relablled in Outlook Today Contacts, merely
so that it had a unique name.

Now when I press the address book button, I still get the same message but,
as you probably know, also get a pop-up called message book and the "Show
names for the" drop-down box shows "Contacts".

The joy is that I can press the arrow on the drop- down box and there is
"Outlook Today Contacts" which works!!!

Now can you please tell me how get rid of the pesky "contacts?"? I tried
the Tools,... procedure mentioned above and unfortunately lists only my
Outlook Today Contacts, so that makes it impossible to use the Remove button.

Got any idea?

In the menu of that Address Book go to Tools | Options. You can choose which
address list to show first, where to keep personal addresses and which
address books to check in what order.

Thanks so much Bill. Set all options for my likes. Can't express my
appreciaton enough.
