Outlook 2k7 and RSS

Please ignore the mail address
I'm having an issue with RSS feeds, when I try & add a feed to my reader
(GreatNews), outlook 2k7 opens as well, I do not want to use outlook as
an RSS reader, this seems to happen with other readers as well (it
certainly does with FeedReader), anybody got any ideas as to why this
should happen?

Hmmm, are there multiple protocols / extensions here that might be causing
two things to open: Control Panel > Internet applet > Programs tab?

Are you using a common feed list? In Outlook's tools, options, other,
advanced options, disable the ability to use common feed list.

If it continues, you can turn off RSS capability using a reg hack.

I've turned off using common feed list - didn't help
Turned off RSS capabiity using the reg hack still open outlook but now I
get a message telling me I cannot use RSS as the administrator has
disabled it!
Any further suggestions welcomed, would it be quicker to uninstall
outlook & reinstall? PS I'm running WinXP Pro 64 bit

Thanks for the suggestion, no apparent mis-configuration there, still trying

I'd certainly try office diagnostics and check the RSS file association
in windows.
Thank you, I have run the diagnostics which found no errors, I have been
thinking about checking the file assns, which are the the ones I should
be checking?

The ones for RSS. :) Seriously, I'm not sure - the feeds I offer are aspx,
which is associated with IE, so there is obviously more to it. You're using
vista, right? In default programs, set associations - select outlook and
then choose defaults for this program, there are two protocols for
outlookfeed - removing the association might help. That is the only thing
that catches my eye when I looked over the file types.
