I have had to reinstall office and now I cannot seem to, create new email,
open email (can read in preview window), nor able to forward email. Error
saying that microft has encountered a problem and needs to close? Any ideas?

Try a new mail profile.

That did not help can only open in safe mode?

Open it in safe more and uncheck all the add-ins. See if that helps.
