Outlook 2007 won't open in Explorer 7

Recently migrated from Outlook Express to Outlook 2007 so I can use all the
features with a new iPhone. All is going well with migration and Iphone
syncing. However, now Outlook 2007 will not start from within Internet
Explorer 7. Under Programs, Email is set to Outlook. When using the email
icon in Explorer to open Outlook, nothing happens. Can open Outlook
standalone OK. Also when I click an email link on a website, Outlook Express
opens as if it was the preferred email client.
Also the Calendar and Contact fields are blank on the Programs Options page
in Explorer with no Outlook options.
My OS is XP home on a Dell laptop.
Thanks for your insights in advance.

Go to Tools..Options and Other. Go into the Default Programs section and
make sure everything is set to Outlook. This is in the actual Outlook
program.

The box is checked to make Outlook the default for email, calender, and
contacts in the Options section you mention below. So unfortunatley this does
not appear to be the fix.
Happy New Year!

Today I ran the repair option for Office 2007 under Add/Remove programs. It
fixed all the bugs I was having with the email linkages in Internet Explorer
and other apps with Outlook 2007.
