outlook 2007 won't close properly

When I start my PC, outlook opens fine. When I close it and try to reopen, it
doesn't. Outlook.exe shows up in task manager twice and if I force it to
close, it will reopen. Sometimes it asks if I want to open in safe
mode.What's wrong??

Have you tried waiting a minute or so after exiting Outlook to see if it
fully terminates?

So I waited more than a minute and it opened. Then closed and waited less
than that and it wants to open in safe mode. If I click no, it opens. But if
I close and open again, it won't.

So the problem is not waiting a while? This is a new problem - hasn't
happened before.

Sometimes Outlook takes a while to finish up things behind the scenes like
updating feeds, compacting files, etc. Usually I end up waiting less than a
minute but I've had terminates take 10 minutes.

I have an Outlook that seems to never stop sometimes. I've waited overnight
and it still is in the PROCESSES of the task manager. Memor reads and I/O
Reads never change. When I delete it sometimes I get an error message when
restarting but generally not. Often it works fine. Any thoughts?

Seems to be a feature of Outlook 2007? I often run two profiles and switch
between the two. I have to End Process on Outlook, even after a weekend of
"shutting down and cleaning up". Perhaps there is another way to close
Outlook 2007 on Vista?

I have the same problem. Outlook 2007 doesn't close down when I close the
program. I can open it again, but it then shows open twice in Task Manager.

When it shows being open twice in Task Manager, it doesn't work right.
Email content does not show in the right pane....it's just blank. To read
emails I have to double-click and open each email.

Anyway, this happens so often -- just about every time -- that I'm going to
have to seriously consider an alternative to MSFT Office, especially Outlook
2007; although I'd much rather be able to fix this problem.

Folks,
the same problem also occurs 'down under' in Australia.
I just spoke with Microsoft support staff who wanted to charge exorbitantly
to try and resolve the problem (although in previous calls when the product
was under warranty they were unable to do so!)

I came across this page which suggestions some ideas. I'm about to try them
to see if they work.

cheers
