Outlook 2007 with IMAP

Guest

Testing Outlook 2007 with IMAP w/ SSL (port 993) from outside of our network
and for some reason it wouldn't work. I checked the logs for our border
firewall and noticed that it was trying to contact my email server with port
365 UDP.

Is this an additional port that Oulook 2007 uses for some reason? Is there a
document that lists the new/different ports that Outlook 2007 uses?

Thanks!

Outlook will use whatever ports you specified in the appropriate dialog.

Exactly... it is supposed to use 993 for secure IMAP, but it was also trying
to contact my email server with 365 UDP and because it failed, my IMAP
session couldn't even connect. This wasn't the case with Outlook 2003 as all
those pass through my firewall fine. I was just wondering if for some reason
Outlook 2007 uses any new or extra ports.

Thanks!

On the dialog, did you select 993 and SSL in the drop-down box?

No idea then why this isn't working. That particular UDP port is
according to a Google Search only used by some honeypot kit and has
nothing to do with email.

Sorry,
