outlook 2007 Thesaurus and synonyms

I just rebuilt a friend’s home box that was full of viruses. I reinstalled
office 2003 student edition for his daughter, but he uses outlook 2007, so I
downloaded it from his hosted exchange service.
When replying to an email message the thesaurus and synonyms no longer seem
to be working.
I tried pulling up a word doc and its working fine from within word.
I installed all options when installing office as well as outlook.
I checked for any options I needed to enable in outlook or word and could
not find anything…?
Any suggestions?

Which version of Word is installed? It might need updating to Word 2007.

it has 2003 word installed, I dont understand why if its working in word it
would not work in outlook word...? NOt worth upgrading, would like to find a
fix. I guess I could downgrade the outlook version.
