Outlook 2007 Sent Items folder large file size

I'm using Outlook 2007 in Windows Vista Business. Although the Sent
Items folder is empty, the file size is shown as being 40 GB (right
click, choose Properties, then click the Folder size button). I've
compacted that PST but no changes. My total file size right now for
the PST is around 70 GB and it has never grown any larger than 90 GB
or so. I've kept it managed well since I've started using Office 2007
but can't find out why the Sent Items folder is so large with noting
in it. Any help would be appreciated.

Are there any sub-folders under the Sent folder. If not and you have already ran the compact tool. Try it again if no change. I would check to see if the pst file is corrupted by running the scanpst.

Ran the scanpst program. It found errors and I allowed it to backup
the pst and then repair it. I then opened Outlook and ran the compact
tool. There were no changes to the size of the Sent Items folder
(shows to be 40 GB but there's only one 39kb file in there).

Any other suggestions (I hope!!)??

How would creating a new profile resolve the size problem of my Sent
Items folder?? Once I create a new profile and import the existing
pst, nothing will have changed -- true??

Have it solved!! First of all, I need a t-shirt that says "I'm with
stupid" and the arrow should be pointing at me!!

The size of the folder was in MBs, not GBs. Do'h!! After I turned on
the "Show all items in folder", it read 411 or so but nothing was
listed. Someone then suggested for me to look at View --> Current
option to see what it was set to. It was set to "Last Seven Days!!"
Once that was changed to "Messages", I could then see everything and
could delete, archive, etc., as needed. Don't know how that was set
to the 7 days option. It appeared to have been that was since the
Office 2007 program was installed. The earliest dated email was
1-26-07, which when I installed everything. Maybe that is the
default.

What a putz I am!! Let's hope that's out of my system for a while.
